Pickleball Tournament

Registration is open until June 18 for Forsyth Humane Society’s Pickleball Tournament happening June 21-23, 2024 just outside of Winston-Salem, NC at Sedge Garden Park. Proceeds will support the care of shelter dogs and cats finding themselves ‘in a pickle’ as they search for their forever homes. Your sponsorship and participation will directly impact the lives of homeless dogs and cats in our community through vaccinations, spay/neuter, and other needs they may have to be ready for adoption!

Swish is in the process of uploading all players into the app by 3pm on 6/20/24.

Registration is now closed and we have 72 teams playing this weekend! Swish will soon (we do not have an ETA yet) be able to drop each player into brackets and courts that can be viewed on the Swish app. Make sure you have the app downloaded on your phone, it’s how you’ll check-in, know your court, enter your scores etc. on your day of play. (Note that the login information you used on the web version may not match the app, if you have never used the app before, you may have to create a new login/password.) Partner changes have been sent to Swish and when they drop all players in the system, those changes should be reflected there.

DAY OF PLAY DETAILS:

Arrival and Parking: Arrive at least 15 minutes before your start time to get checked-in. Park anywhere at Sedge Garden Community Center, 401 Robbins Rd.

Check-In:

• Before you arrive
  • Download the Swish App and enable SMS notifications before you arrive. Find it in Apple or Google Stores or at swishsportsapp.com
  • Your password for the app will not be the same as the Swish website where you registered.
  • You will have to create a new account for the app but you can use the same email and password. (The app doesn’t recognize your login from the website!)
  • On your phone go to settings – camera – enable QR code scanning to make sure you are able to scan the code on the day of play
  • You won’t be able to see much in the app until you arrive on your day of play. When you check-in the day of play, you’ll see all the details! Review the start times and reference the division you registered in and we’ll see you at the courts!
• Day of Play
  • Check-in under the red FHS tent by the courts at Sedge Garden. Here you will scan a QR code that will allow you to “join the game”

Shirts: We will have event shirts for you and do our best to match the size you indicated at registration with the sizes that were donated. They’ll be available for you when you check-in Saturday and/or Sunday. In addition to the shirts, you’ll get a bag with a few items including sunscreen spray, but don’t forget to lather up before you come! 

Temperatures: It’s going to be hot this weekend! Make sure to visit the Gwyn Services cooling tent where you’ll find fans and a cool mist. 

Snacks: We will have coolers of water, sunshine energy water, and light snacks. Please plan to bring anything specific you may need to stay topped up and hydrated!

Prizes: Awards will be given out to winners of each division.

Friday Night Timeline:
Cookout at 6pm, Open to all community members whether participating in the tournament or not $15
Workshop is $25 and will include:

• PicklePong, Shoe Demo, Paddle Demo, Ball Demo with Ski & Tennis Station
• Opportunity to play with Bolt from WS Dash at 6:30pm and 7:30pm
• Pickle Pal Portraits with Desilu (wear something fun and think awkward family photos with a pickleball spin)
• Sessions with Dr. Sarvar Pathan, PT, DPT at 6:30, 7:00, and 7:30 covering topics like warm-ups, cool-downs, things to do in between play days for strength, mobility, and stability, rest days, neck and shoulder posture plus tips for back pain or hip tightness etc. 
• Three courts for open play to practice and simply be in community with one another!
