One of the ways we are out in the community is with our friends, Run Like A Fish, a great run club coming out of Fiddlin’ Fish Brewing who’s goal is to uplift, support and encourage one another. They have been great supporters of Forsyth Humane Society events like Mutt Strut, Paw Crawl, and many other community based events throughout Winston-Salem and surrounding areas. We had a casual conversation with Megan about the phrase “wellness of companionship” which is pretty important to Run Like A Fish. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to run club and they partner new runners with someone who is running at their mileage or pace so no one is running alone. As we like to say, “never run alone.” They put together activities for people and the pets they love to all be active and in community. They love doing events with us here at Forsyth Humane Society and we love engaging with them! It gives people a chance to think about what life might be like with a furry companion and how that can contribute to overall health and wellbeing.
People and pets can join them every Monday at 6pm to Fiddlin’ Fish Brewing for a fun run, walk or just to socialize (because some days you just don’t feel like running and that’s ok!) In addition to the Fiddlin’ Fish run club, other breweries have their run clubs too – they often run together or meet each other at different locations along their runs, they all do something different but they all celebrate community and the wellness of companionship. The community of runners here and in the We Run Winston Fleet Feet (more on these friends coming soon!) group are beyond amazing and we are so happy to be included in it.
