“In this season of celebrating our shelter animals, I celebrate Rusty!” June gives us another great story of a big ole cat named Rusty Kringle! Enjoy it.
The first FHS cat I ever fell in love with was Rusty Kringle. He came in at Christmas time and was actually adopted as part of a big holiday special event. Right after the holiday, he was returned because someone in the home was allergic to him. He stayed with us, one of the only cats in the Cat Room, for several weeks. He was the biggest, sweetest orange boy and, of course, I loved him, as did everyone else. It took him a while to find his humans because he was already 11 years old and adopters were hesitant to take on a senior cat. One day in January a nice family came in looking for the perfect cat for a home that included small children. They were introduced to Rusty, love happened and the rest, as they say, is history! Rusty went home and continues to live “happily ever after!” Today I saw current pictures of Rusty on Facebook and his mom gave me permission to share with any cat volunteers who may remember him. The picture on the left is Rusty on his Gotcha Day; the one on the right is current. Rusty has to be at least 15 now, is doing well, lives like a king and is totally adored. In this season of celebrating our shelter animals, I celebrate Rusty!
