Speakers Bureau

Give us as much time as you choose. Sometimes we are at a school all day, and other times we have only 20 minutes as the guest lunch speaker at a local civic club, like Rotary or Kiwanis. Help is needed assisting our Education Coordinator to inform the community about our programs, our mission, and our needs. Help our speaker, or be a speaker in our mission to educate children, teachers, and others as we make presentations to the public.

Critter Cuddlin’

Does your pet like to be the center of attention? Are they well behaved? We have a critter cuddlin' group that brings their dogs and cats for weekly visits to area nursing homes, retirement centers, and day treatment programs. The amount of time you participate is up to you...could be weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, and approximately 1 or 2 hours at a time.

Foster Care

Are you a nurturer with time on your hands? Short-term care is generally always in demand. Especially during kitten season we often find there are numerous motherless kittens in need. The FHS does not have the staff to care for these babies or puppies, so foster volunteers are always welcome.

We also have abandoned animals who are in need of either short-term vet care, or may just need time to recuperate from recent vet care. We do not permit adoption of an animal who is ill, so they recuperate in our quarantine area. Once the pet is well, it is made available for adoption. If you provide an interim home, they will not be using up valuable kennel space at our facility where a healthy pet could be available for immediate adoption.

Providing Foster Care is a great way to provide love and care to an animal without making a long-term commitment to that animal.
