Sara

Sara is a 6 month old deaf lab-Dalmanian. She is a beautiful white color with a few black spots scattered on her body and head. She loves everyone, is smart, gets along well with other dogs and cats and has that happy lab personality. She was rescued by a good Samaritan who found her by the road along with her litter mate who had been killed by a car. FHS then agreed to foster her while her rescuer and FHS looked for private funds so she could attend training by folks who have experience working with deaf dogs and their special needs. Along with her rescuer, FSH staff, friends and volunteers contributed the fees for the school. After a month in foster, she is now at ShilohK-9 Dog Training Services where she will spend the next 6-8 weeks. They are located in Stoneville NC about an hour from Winston-Salem. Valerie and Adam Witherspoon run Shiloh and have lots of experience working with dogs in their lovely rural setting. They will use hand signals and aids such as a pulsing collar (which is critical with deaf animals to get their attention so that they can be safe) in training Sara. Should you be interested in adopting Sara, you can be part of her training. Just let us know if you would like to inquire about this fabulous dog and giving her a forever home.
