Past Events
Heather Kierstead and her dog Kobe (adopted from FHS) successfully completed a vegetarian thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail as a benefit for FHS. They departed from Maine on May 31, 2007, and completed the hike in Georgia on December 19, 2007 (a total of 2,175 miles).
We have received so many donations in honor and appreciation for what Heather has done for us; over $17,250.00 so far. Heather has asked that all donations go to our spay/neuter and sick/injured animal funds.
Read about their trip, see slide shows, interviews and much more. Heather And Kobe's A.T. Hike

Winston Salem Gone To The Cats And Dogs
The Forsyth Humane Society once again brings a public art exhibition to the streets of Winston-Salem. They kicked off the event on April 26th, 2008 with the ART UNLEASHED Parade and Festival.
Bigger-than-life cats and dogs transform downtown streets in this community arts project during the summer of 2008. The pack of fiberglass canines and kitties – at peace with one another for the good of the real animals of Forsyth County. They will sit – and stay – through the first of August, vibrantly gracing downtown streets, storefronts and intersections, bringing people downtown and bringing smiles to their faces.
Check out the fun from the Art Unleashed Parade and Festival
If you would like more information on how you can own one of these amazing cats and dogs that are lining the streets of downtown Winston Salem, log on to Art Unleashed website.
